I thought, "what else could they possibly steal?".
Could the steering wheel be covered under everything else that was stolen under your insurance, or is it going to be a seperate incident, making it so you have to have a deductible to pay just for the wheel theft?

seperate claim....thats the part that annoys me. I was one day away from being able to drive my car. the only other annoying part is trying to find the seat belt buckle only for this car. I'd watch out though, because I'm pretty sure these guys are pros and are scoping out any/all s2000's in town. It definitely looked like they knew what they were doing.

I had a similar thing happen to me years ago with my custom VW Bug. Got broken into by smashing the quarter window, cutting the battery cable under the back seat, stealing the amp and stereo deck.

After the repair with the alarm "upgraded" to detect the glass being smashed...........1 week later they returned and did it another way.

Instead of smahing the quarter window, they removed the whole thing with the rubber seal and all!! How did they know?!?! Got the new amp and cut themselves on the stereo deck without getting it and bled on the interior - haha on them!!

Leads you to wonder if it was an inside job or something. How did they figure to break into it a different way. They waited until the equipment was replaced and returned to the scene of the crime.

I sold the car after that.

However for YOU, can you park it somewhere else for awhile? Trade with a family member (heaven forbid the thought - I know). Something to make them move on. Also get seat locks. This way you'll have seats to drive around with while you are waiting for the insurance claim to come through. They may slash the seats for not being able to get them out, but at least you'll have seats.

Have you guys heard of parking your car in a garage? When you have a convertible the chances of break-ins are much higher. Vegas is now the theft capital of the nation. If you were a thieve wouldn't you want the awesome S2000 seats? Be warned, take precautions and if you don't have the option of a garage then you may want to think about your living situation or deal with the car thieves.
