Default TEIN Flex-suspension

Anybody have an opinion on TEIN or this setup. I am thinking of getting in on the groupbuy.

Sounds like a great system:

16 dampening settings.
Change the front and rear (dampening) independently of each other from inside the car!
drop the car .9-2.5 inches. (God knows the S has loads of wheel gap).
Good spring rates.

Any opinions ??? Help me out before I drop $1600!

I have heard only great reviews of the Flex system. But in my opionin is the edfc system worth the 340 since it takes a couple minutes to adjust the coilovers by hand. It just depends if you want the adjusting to be easier or save some cash to spend on other mods.

$340 is no big deal. I would find the convenience to be a nice added touch.

My greatest concern is the quality of the system. I have heard a lot of people tlk crap about "jap coilover systems".

It seems that many people feel that you have to buy German parts that cost twice as much to get quality.

I'll ask my standard question: What is it that you are looking to achieve with this system?

If it's only for appearance, i.e., lowering the car, then you'll be fine. If you're thinking about "improving" on the stock suspension then you have to identify what it is that you're trying to improve and then find the best solution.

I don't know about a lot of people, but the fast people will tell you almost unanimously that most sub $2,000 coilover systems are crap whether from Japan or elsewhere.

Ludedude

I actually like the stock suspension, but can't stand the wheel gap.

I am basically looking to get something that drops the car about an inch but keeps a similar to stock or slightly better ride.

You have a variety of options then. Ground Control springs with Koni yellow shocks are a good proven setup and can easily be had for under $1000 for all 4 corners. Any set of springs from H&R, KG/MM etc. will lower the car by different amounts but of course the height isn't adjustable with those. I believe Comptech makes a set of adjustable springs made to work with the stock shocks as well.

Lowering the car is usually detrimental to the ride since you've just reduced the suspension travel available. In order to counter the increased tendency to bottom out with such a setup, spring and comression rates are usually increased resulting in a much stiffer and harsher ride than stock. In this case, it's very difficult to have your cak and eat it too...especially for a cheap price

Ive heard it before, but is it true that you can lower the car an inch by using the Koni shocks? If so, why dont more people buy them instead of purchasing springs?

I just want to make sure the TEIN Flex system does not make the car handle worse than stock and that it lasts for at least 3 years without problems. If it can do those things and lower my car an inch, then I'm all over it!

The buddy clubs are very nice. Installed them on a friends car and it feels so much better.
