Hey guys, I've come upon a DC header that I'm planning to install, but there's one problem: When it was removed, one of the bolts broke off in the mounting plate. I called a machine shop in town and they said they could do it (of course they aren't open for the next three or four days, as he said) but would any of you guys have ideas for stuff I could try at home?

If not, I'll drag it along with me to the next BWW meet so you guys can take a look

Is the bolt threaded into place on the mounting plate or is it stuck in there due to corrosion?

 

It's threaded into place in the mounting plate that attaches to the downpipe. the header is actually in pretty good shape otherwise (it was on a show-car). It could probably be drilled out, but my wimpy little cordless drill can't do it. I think it'd take a little more muscle hehe

 

Well, that's the procedure. Get a real man's drill and a vice and have at it. Cordless is nice for drilling holes in wood but you'll have to do better than that to do any real work. I've got a 14.4 v cordless and an honest to god plug-it-in-the-wall 120V one for those manly jobs

 

My neighbor has one too. I'll borrow his (and a nice drillbit) and get that sucker out.

btw, I checked out my oem brakepads and they're SHOT. Let me know what sorta deal you can do for me on those Cobalts.

 

Let us know what you think of the header once you get it installed. I had one about 2 years ago but sold it before installing it cause it was proven to do zero.
