Where do you dispose of the old stuff? I just realized I don't know where to take it Since I'm in an apartment I don't have access to recycling or home chemical pickups or anything of the sort. Is there any place in Henderson that I can drop this mess off?

Most of the autoparts places have recycling "centers" I use the Checkers by my house. I walk in with a big jug of oil, they point me to the back, then I dump it in a big metal can. At Pep Boys, you have to fill out personal information. Usually there is a sticker on the window saying that they are a recycling center.

OK, cool. Guess I'll check by my local Auto Zone tomorrow. Just didn't want to drive around with that stuff sloshing around in the trunk and no destination

Auto Zone seems to be the easiest place to deal with. Once you are in their computer system, you just tell them who you are (phone number) and away you go. They will accept up to five gallons at a time.

As the other have said, I dropped the oil at Checkers near my place also. I have talked to Silver State (garbage people), and they do accept the used oil on recycle day. It must be in a gallon containers and labeled.

I do !! And once in a while I bring about 10 gallons of used oil around to the back (in one gallon plastic milk jugs) of a local jiffy-lube and just leave it there when they are not open.

I think that here in NY any place that sells oil must accept old oil for recycling. Regardless, I drop mine off at the local garage with no hassle.

AutoZone is the answer. I walked in with my container, the guy behind the counter says "what can I do for you?" I pointed to what I was carrying and said "I have to get rid of this" so he took it out back, dumped it and returned it to me; no questions asked.

It's tough getting used to working on this thing without my friend's shop

Ryan, I change my oil about once a month. Next time, I'll let you know.
