Default Additional speaker placement?

So the PO installed a nice Pioneer Nav/DVD unit in the dash that sounds excellent, and upgraded the door speakers from paper...but with the top down, its not enough

I've done some searching and it appears a good idea to put speakers in the roll bar hoops..has anyone here done this and recommend it? who can do it locally?

any other options for a second set of speakers?

looking for advise and expertise

I put mine in the rear panels behind the seats:



I generally run them with about 80/20 bias towards the fronts, basically they're there to provide rear fill. If I'm going top down I'll generally switch them to be a 50/50 split. The speakers don't have much bass, but you can hear more music. I have found that they do rattle a little which can be annoying. I may add some foam backing to the plastic panels to prevent the vibrations.

I can promise that the money spent on adding rear speakers would be better spent on upgraded door speakers.

I have no problem hearing my music at speed with the top down...

roll hoops are the way to go you can put a full 6.5' speaker and a 1' tweeter with room to spare.

I put the S-Pods in my '01 S, along with a small amp in the trunk Great sound with the top down at highway+ speeds.

spods look like the way to go, but it appears Mark isn't making them anymore???

where can I find them?

zip spods were made / named by mark way before honda came out with roll hoop speakers
