Default Anyone Leasing?

My roommate is now strongly considering an S and is thinking of taking the lease route as he really doesn't drive much.

Is anyone else leasing? How flexible/negotiable have Honda dealers been with cost cap reductions on the special program they always seem to be running??

Have him keep in mind that once he has an S, he will definitely drive more! We all know that once you there's no making the car a garage dweller.

Already warned him - that and he's not going to want to give it back after the lease is up.

Maybe he can find a used one and have payments the same or lower, and own the car when it's paid off.

I wouldn't do it. I originally leased my first S and then began modding like crazy even though I swore I wouldn't (look at me now ). I ended up buying the lease out and lost some money initially.

I agree that he will probably put more milage on it than he thinks and the mod bug will bite. Tell him to buy instead.

I'm leasing my car because it was the ONLY way to afford the payments. I'm not worrying about miles because I plan to buy the car when the lease is up.

Yes I'm looking at 8 years of car payments - 96 of them... I have 14 or 15 down already. I even looked at a 3 year old S but the payments came out (for me) a rediculously high payment.

Your friend just needs to figure out if it's worth it to him. I don't regret a single payment so far and it's a Honda so it's not like 7 or 8 years is a long time. My husband inherited my 99 Civic which is still like new and I have 90 and 91 Civics as daily drivers all winter.

And it's not the payments that are expensive - it's joining s2ki and going to all the meets - and track days - and hotel stays for all these - and of course, for some the mods

I did not get a particularly good deal on the car but it wasn't bad either. No regrets other than I am not "allowed" to get a roll bar until my lease is up and I start actualy finance payments!

Will I win a prize for making the most car payments for my S?!

Oh - maybe a date with Bass!

The date probably requires Bass getting to drive his dates car....

I let my husband drive once every great while. I think it's been at least 4 times in the last year. And I watch him like a hawk the whole time
