arrghh... speeding ticket!
coming back from charlestown driving through the tunnel. trooper using a laser.
but I have a question. the trooper never had me sign the ticket. that mean anything? or am I screwed anyway?

Hey amigo - slow down Esa
in MA you don't have to sign a ticket. and the only reason he wrote down your ethnicity (albeit wrong) is so that they know how many people they pull over and cite (so that there is proof that racial profiling does not exist)
Ie
30% African American
30% Hispanic
30% Caucasian
20% green people from Mars
i would still fight it IF you have a clean record - you have nothing to lose

I'm no lawyer but i watched Matlock last night
they will pull your record and look at it (even though past driving history should have no bearing on this incident) most times they side with law enforcement officers
how fast did he write you up for?
again i think it's worth a shot

Sorry to hear about the ticket, Julius. Those troopers in the tunnel are tricky and always hide around a bend. Given the frequent accidents in the past and how severely they slow down traffic in the tunnel, both the troopers and magistate are very unforgiving on violations taken place inside the tunnel.
They do give you a good buffer. You can do as fast as 55-60 in a 45 and likely they'll let you go. Doing 70 in a 45 is going to be a tough fight to get off. I say appeal if for no other reason than to postpone payment. Then think of a really good reason/excuse for the speeding - they are not going to let you off w/ a lame one. Good luck.
