Thumbs down ATTN MA DRIVERS!

Alright MA drivers. I've been told and press releases confirm that from July 2-26 there is a special attack on drunk driving here in the state of MA. The LEOs and others have been directed to put cars on the side of the road more often than usual in an attempt to catch people over the limit.

This is my attempt to tell you if there was ever a time to behave on the road, this is it. There has been nothing crazy like this in a long time, so the LEOs will be out having "fun" stopping cars.

The LEOs have been directed to stop at a minimum of 3 cars per hour during their shift and are being asked to take in atleast 1 drunk driver per shift. This means they will be putting cars on the side of the road for EVERYTHING. They have also been directed to patrol 100% of their shift, whereas some spend a lot of time in the station and what not.

Bottom line,
Roll a stop sign, pay the price...
Front plate off, pay the price...
Forget to signal, pay the price...
10 over PSL, pay the price...
You get the idea.

Just giving a heads up to take it easy for a few weeks, especially this weekend.

don't break the law - don't pay the price and honestly i find it hard to believe there is a state wide mandate however enforcement is always greater during holidays

There may be a few extra patrols funded by Governors highway safety bureau grants, but there will surely be no wholesale stopping of car more than usual. It is most likely some form of advertising you heard.

always good to be careful on holiday weekends due to the increased amounts of drunks driving, but I wouldn't get worried that you will encounter the gestapo.

The typical OUI arrest takes anywhere from 2-3 hours from start to finish. And, that is if the drunk doesn;t go to the hospital. there will be no one OUI per shift

The funny thing is that a week or two ago we were all in agreement that Ma was the LEAST likely place to get pulled over for speeding because the average speed of most cars on the highway is like 75-80
