Is it bad to be bossy?
I find myself being very bossy at work and impatient at times as well. The issue is that this place is so 1980's its not even funny. I guess I should just roll with it and collect the paycheck. Too many layers then what I am used to.
I see bossy and assertiveness as much the same.
Last night going home, I work 11 miles from home, the snow is coming down hard, the roads are crap, who knows where the road crews are. After being in the truck for 2.5 hours I still have not completed my 11-mile journey when I come up to a long string of tail lights going up a short but steep hill. I stop along with all the others and wait. 13-minutes later I'm looking at the same line of cars, no movement up the hill, only cars coming the other way down the hill. That's it, I'm no spineless sheep. I pull over onto the shoulder and drive by 22 cars, all parked in a row in the right lane waiting for gosh only knows what. People are blowing their horns and flashing their lights as I creep by doing a whopping 15 miles an hour. I get up to the 1st car, and there is someone parked. They cannot get up the hill, they don't know what to do, so they just sit there in their car staring forward. the sheep behind that car never bothered to pull around or anything. I was home 10-minutes later, when I drove by there this morning I half expected to see that same line of 22 cars still sitting there.
It is NOT bad to be assertive, and if expressing your opinion is considered being bossy then so be it. I'll go to my grave being bossy, I'm not sitting back and letting the world take advantage of me.
