Default Bees... Bees EVERYWHERE!

Here's a funny story...

This morning I came downstairs, walked into my bathroom to take a shower and wondered to myself...what is all that buzzing? After rubbing my eyes a few times I realized it was a swarm of honey bees in my bathroom...

So now I'm trying to get rid of them - and not get stung in the process. SEVERAL cans of bee-spray and bug-bombs... still working on it...

To make it even worse, I have someone staying over tomorrow night (you know who you are! ) that is really allergic to bees and I am sure they'd love to take a shower. Wish me luck!

Let me make a bit of correction... they are not honey bees... They appear to be Baldfaced Hornets:

There's a fan in the ceiling and it vents on the outside wall. I can see them flying in/out... meaning that they have a nest in there... Hopefully the bug-bomb was enough. Tomorrow morning I'll see if I can find any additional live ones coming in/out or in my bathroom. If there is I'll set off another bomb.

I really hate tiny stinging insects!!

Last couple of four years I would work at Mad River Glen for two weeks and we would hand mow the mountain with a hand sythe for some dollars and a season pass. Well sooner or later someone would whack at or near a nest. Talk about a bunch of men young and old running and screaming like little girls So I was lucky, I didn't get stung once until I got home last year and did some mowing down my back hillside stung twice by paper wasps then not five minutes later five more times by ground hornets. That bites...... seven times ouch, ouch bla bla bla. But I remembered what my grandmother said " If you put some ammonia on it, it won't sting" and she was right.
And by the way use the sprays and bombs at night when the nest is full. Get them all, one shot!!

Hope to see you at Poorman's Sunday

Lou

Thanks for the advice, I'll set off another bomb tonight to be sure I get them.

Are you going to meet us over at Poorman's? We should be there first thing in the morning. Josh is coming down tomorrow night and staying over and I am hopeful that Rob will meet us there.

We may see Jim and April; however I believe they both were concerned about work-conflicts.

Well, here's an update. This morning I only found 1 hornet throughout the whole house. He was upstairs in a window, so I believe he was an early explorer (the infected bathroom was downstairs...).

Now I just have to clean the bug-bomb off everything... Wish I thought ahead to take my toothbrush out of there.
