Default Best Buy Fail ....

Man, is this country just full of Hypocrites

2006 I thought Best Buy adopted the language "Happy Holidays " in favor of Christmas so not to offend other religious holidays . So banned is the use of "MERRY CHRISTMAS"

But yet in this Thanksgiving Flier they can celebrate "Eid" a Muslim Holiday one the front page , how is That Not offensive ??? LINK

Man the world gets more retarded by the day . Funny that on the TV in the flier is Angels & Demons .. LOL

The biggest part I find funny is 75% of America is Christian/Catholic base . I guess being PC is a one way street

So what do you think , Publicity stunt or Stupidity ?

I'll file this under: "Things I don't get worked up about because they have no bearing on my life whatsoever".

What do you get worked up about?

Not much seems to ruffle your feathers.

Maybe this would:

Scott, I'm in Erick's camp on this one. I've got enough of my own "stuff" to worry/think about.

Who's worried ?? What should I be worried about ?

Just think it is Stupid that they Ban one and not the other . I have had the pleasure of celebrating both holidays . When I was in the UAE it was Eid. Celebrated in much of the same manner as Christmas . The elders hand out money to all the youth and they go on a shopping spree .. LOL . Only thing that differs is it is over several days and they fast during it .

Everyone was very polite and no one had a issue with me discussing Christmas or such with them . But I find it funny that is is so offensive here .

So if you guys dont care . Is it you dont have any faith or religion to care ? If you dont beleive do you still celebrate the Holiday ?

Christmas is way over commercialized - period!! the stuff was out before Halloween this year .

Business is all about $$$$ and not religions holidays or even language just $$$$ - if best buy can target it's market and sell to someone of Muslim or Jewish or Catholic faith than that's good for the shareholders -plain and simple

i agree with Erick - i could care less

scott would you decline business if someone wished you a happy Fesitives.. i think not

also don't forget this county was founded on separation of church and state (some right wing nuts tend to forget this)

I get worked up about it because it comes down to the first amendment. What can and can't be said in the name of political correctness is nothing but peer pressure (read bullying) to try to ban speach. The balance between church and state has nothing to do with church and commerce. If a business wants to advertise Christmas specials, they should go ahead and do it. But the PC police exercise their first amendment rights and protest the use of the term. I wish one of the retailers had the guts to say we are advertising specials for this particular holiday, because many of our customers celebrate it.

I think this all started with non christians getting pissed off at being wished a Merry Christmas at the check-out line. Those people complained and store managers told the staff to just wish people a happy holiday. But now the PC thing to do is observe the holidays of other religions, but still not Christmas. That is the point where things have just gone too far.

We're close to a political/religious discussion here.....

Scott, I practice no religion.I have my beliefs, but that's about it. I'm a "recovering Catholic." If I could run away from all that is the Holiday Season I would. The season is too commercialized. We "celebrate" Christmas, because we have grandchildren. Were it not for them, I'd be sitting on a tropical beach ignoring the whole thing.

So I guess the answer is, "I just don't care." If companies send mixed messages or give their employees instructions on how to greet people, it may make no sense to me, but I probably won't even notice.

so bill

is what you're saying a company such as best buy wish everyone a Merry Christmas rather than say happy holidays (which encompasses all faiths)? if so, i wold see that as a lost sales opportunity as we can't tell ones beliefs simply by looking at them

and a BIG thumbs up to Target for getting rid of the bell ringers!!

Bill the first amendment does not apply when you work for a company - you can scream merry christmas all day long in a public setting if you want however when you work for a corporation you MUST follow their rules. i can't tell my customers that XXX transducer is better and cheaper than our company's and expect to have a job

Heck i guess I can't even say X customer sucks at paying - do we have a suit saying that my company is denying me of my fist amendment rights when they tell me i can't say "sucks"

You guys are the worked up ones , I find it funny and having a I don't care attitude is even more funny .

I am saying that they are Hypocrites , I said nothing of them being Anti Christ . Or hating them because of it . Get over yourself . Typical leftist ... LOL trying to break my rules of politics and pointing the blame elsewhere

this another hypocritical statement "also don't forget this county was founded on separation of church and state (some right wing nuts tend to forget this)" referring to the first amendment . But yet free speech is always under attack , so is the rest of the constitution ... But that is another debate and not worth arguing as you dont care .. LOL See what I did there

BACK to the Point . If we are to adopt the HAPPY HOLIDAYS saying as not to offend others from the term Christmas , why is it alright to celebrate others and it not being offensive ??

This is a question , not a view . And if you dont care why bother posting anything ???? Funny how people that dont care posted first
