Default Brake rotors and pads......

Hi guys,

My S has over 30K miles on her. One of these days, she may need to replace the pads.

When the time comes, I may consider replacing the rotor with some bling bling crossed drilled and sloted rotors.

Any recommendation on which brand?

I saw the Spoon sport cross drilled rotor, they are like $275 a pair .

There must be some other brands outhere with good quality and don't cost an arm and a leg.

Free feel to opine.

How fast you go through pads is greatly dependent on how you drive, how hard you break etc. The rotors shouldnt need replacing provided you dont wear through your pads and you grind the hell out of them or they get badly coroded... At least thats my understanding and I dont know squat.

If you want to change rotors start planning to do so now, dont wait to swap pads as the rotor job will be where a vast majority of the money will go. Pads shouldnt cost that much and need to be changed occasionally anyway.

I have the S2000 manual, I think with the right tool, I should be able to replace the rotors and the brake pads myself. Well, it doesn't hurt if someone gives me a hand and guides me through this process.

Anyway, I need some brandnames here. Rotor and pads which will give me equal or better performance than Stock w/o those horrible noises from those racing pads.

Like I said, it is something for the future, not right now.

Is it one of those gold colored rotors. I am sure they work great, but they look a little funky to me.

I don't think evasive has the right picture there.

all four pads can be changed in about an hour (plus time it takes to remove wheels) OEM pads will cost you about $100.00

my take on rotors - Honda installed some great rotors on the S why change them? bling ok sure, but do you really trust someone else to make the same quality parts as Honda when you have to stop at an inexpensive price

Thomas, they are not gold you fool! They come silver, not to worry!

Go through Evasive. They are selling Brembo rotors at a great price. $310 shipped is an awesome deal! I am about to order these even thought i dont really "Need" brakes, i do "Need" to do another Mod.

Pads are realtively cheap. They go for about $80 front and rear from HTG

Personally I like the stoptech big brake kit. If I had unlimited funds I *might* consider swapping my stock set up for that.

Of course the OEM is more that good enough. It will look very cool with the cross drilled rotor you know. BTW, I think I can trust Brembo.

Dude, it doesn't look like Brembo makes pads. We can use oem pads for them or we need to buy aftermarket pads?

Btw, besides the obviously drilled and sloted features, what is so special about the material of Brembo rotors, they are made of steel right, just like our OEM's, maybe they have coatings to prevent rust.

Stainless steel or just regular steel with anti-corrosion coatings?

Vic, you should know. You are buying them soon.
