I've noticed that my clutch seems to be slipping more. I've driven standard transmission cars for about 13 years now, so I don't think I'm driving it badly - though it's possible; I've never owned this class of car before!

I can't seem to spin the tires from a stop, and now it seems that I can't chirp when going into second any more. When I pop the clutch at high RPM's from a stop, the clutch just slips.

I'm thinking of getting TSB54 done to get a new clutch for free, but I don't want to if it doesn't need to be done.

Is this slipping normal? Any suggestions for seeing if the clutch is bad? Any techies local to central MA have a few minutes to take a spin in my s2k to see if I just don't know what I'm doing?

Hi Profesor,

Where do you teach?

I would not consider slipping normal.

Thurday, I will be in Framingham if you want a second opinion.

I'm not really a professor, it's just an old nickname from high school. I'm actually a software engineer.

I'm going to get in touch with HopkintonMA - I'm in westborough, and that would be closest to me.

Maybe we can make a little gathering out of it?

Francis,
You and anyone else are more than welcome to meet us...havent heard back from Matt yet on what time/location he wants to meet on Thursday....will keep you informed.
I have a question for you, since you have owned both a MY '00 and '01, have you noticed any difference in clutch pressure between the two cars? There is another active post on here under Car Talk that indicates the MY '00 has a stiffer clutch...just curious.

I got out of my 00 and hopped into the 01 and everything felt the same except for the following:
1) the shifter was slightly more notchy - but this was because of the Ti vs Al shift knob
2) the engine did not feel as strong in the 01 initially but my 00 did feel stronger as the miles piled on (as is happenning with my 01 now)
