Default community service discussion

i think in light of the recent considerations it might be worthwhile to have a discussion
about some of the issues on how and when it is appropriate to lick someones door
handles.

first and foremost. let's consider the matter of public safety.
Only lick door handles of vehicles at rest. Do not under any
circumstance's consider ghost licking. That's just dumb and
some one get hurt.
( if you do get hurt please post on YouTube so we can all laugh at you.)

it might be advisable to prevent conflict, that some social signal be established
that informs others that you are not adverse to having your door handles licked.
I apologize as I don't have any suggestions on what this would be however.
Perhaps the Rolling Stones could help out here

although patent issues could be an issue and it might create some confusion within the rock and roll community.

a broader question bothers me in that, is this just the start of some broader subculture thing? 'cause I really don't want to know.
God forbid it could turn into some republican wedge issue in the next election.

What's the ruling on licking the door handles of parked unattended cars? I'm fairly certain this should be fine with most owners.

While most owners may not object, those of us who have been given the title "prissy" wholeheartedly object! Pass the hand sanitizer!

We DO know how Ellen loves her Hondas! But I don't think she'd go that far. Would you, Ellen?

I assume you are limiting to only car door handle licking as that would limit the creativity of the licker. Opening up licking to all types of doors would be less discriminatory and allow greater artistic freedom.

Unfortunately home door licking could present some serious dangers such as snot on a knob, or who knows what else that generally does not affect car door handles. There is a safety feature of home door handle licking, in that the home does not move as fast as a car, therefore allowing children to participate without parental concerns, other than the dangers noted above.

I would be careful the next time you open your car door. Wear rubber gloves just to be safe, you just never know.
