Computer gremlins
I came into work yesterday and my monitor settings were all messed up when I booted up my computer. The top was on the bottom, the bottom was on the top, and I had no taskbar. After messing with it, we disconnected the monitor and that was OK.
In the process I checked the programs running. I had a TON of programs running that I had not started. A couple of re-boots and all was well. BUT, I kept hearing the sound of a door shutting, such as you hear when you are signed on to an instant messenger service and I was NOT signed on.
This AM I could not open a program and fiddled with that a bit. I ended up uninstalling that program and installing another. No problem. I have run Norton, AdAware and Spy bot and did a check disk. Norton found nothing. AdAware and Spy bot found a few things which I deleted the disk is fine.
One of the programs I uninstalled was a Norton browser which included the Instant Messenger program, and today on certain web sites (not this one) I get the door slamming sound again.
Any suggestions? If not, my computer will get a quick check up at lunch from the guy I bought it from.

I had the Ad-Aware, but not the other one. I'll check that out too.
