Default It Could Be Worse...

A friend of mine has a 2005 Civic SI with 7k miles. A glowing light woke him up at 4:00 am, and saw a fire 50 yard from his house. On a closer inspection, his car was on fire and the flames were up to 10' high. The fire was so bad; he couldn't go near the car for fear of explosion. The car is a total loss, the interior melted to a puddle and nothing is salvageable.

Has anyone gone through this; just trying to gather info to help him out. He is leasing his car. Wonder is he'll want another Honda?

It could be worse.... if he was in the car or someone got hurt walking by.

The car was totally stock, not one thing done to it. I wonder if some vandals tried to do something, that would be the only other thing, but I doubt it. Must've been some kind of electrical short? I haven't seen the car yet, but will after work assuming they don't tow it by then.

I would hope they would tow it by them... wouldn't you? who would want a chared mess in thier driveway or the street

this is a common problem for the Ford F150s hence the current recall also with a fire will come an investagation and they will find out what caused the fire..

I'd think it would be there for one day before they haul it off, or at least until 6:00 pm. There's enough damage from the storm that I don't think they'll rush out. If they tow it, I'll go with my friend to the tow yard and check it out.

Well . . . one of the townhouses in my condo association burned down in January and they still haven't torn down the charred remains. I know the insurance is settled and everything. Not really sure why it's still standing.
It also burnt the front bumper of the car behind it too.
