Default CT state police warning..

A friend happened to have two Connecticut troopers at work the other day, and when one went out to the car, a co-worker grilled the remaining one.

After all the usual questions one would ask in such a situation, the officer volunteered the following.

Starting January 14th, CT highway patrols were going to be stepped up and ticketing enforcement was going to increase.

(He told me last night, but the 14th is TODAY!)

So, this is heresay, my buddy was theorizing it might be budget related, but either way, please be extra careful on the Interstates and if you do see extra officers out, respond to this thread to validate the knowledge!

(Remember they now have those unmarked cars too..)

Stay ticket-free,

Randy

PS: And if you get one, CHALLENGE it no matter what, $50 is far better than the full amount.

CT tickets don't show up on MA insurance if you just pay it... if you contest and lose, it shows up.

Thats a good point Francis. Also, most departments get Federal grants for highway safety periodicly. This grant money is usualy used to add extra officers on overtime shifts with the sole purpose of writing tickets and educating the public on traffic safety. This means that while officers on regular patrol have to respond to calls for service, i.e. accidents and disturbances, the officers on grant overtime are freed up to concentrate on traffic only. If this is the case right now in CT, you definatly want to obey the limits as your chances of getting caught are greatly increased.

there is no question that the states need more revenue. Furthermore, Mitt Romney just announced that he is cutting quite a bit of aid given to the local towns so this is a no brainer... I wouldn't be surprised to see the rest of the NE states follow suit.

OBEY the law and we'll be fine (free)

I think I was the first victim of these new patrols; I got nailed on I-95 between exits 42 and 43 s/b with either laser or instant-on. It was too fast to tell. Ironically, it was my 1-year anniversary of getting my car; it took me a year to get a speeding ticket!!!

Sorry to hear that news Vrm Vrm. I also have seen the news reports on stepped up activity in CT. Also have many friends in law enforcement and they have validated it also. They will be using unmarketed cars. Look out for IMPALAs and INTREPIDs. I saw an INTREPID pulling over two cars last weekend on 91north.

Also for all of you that drive on I-95 between exits 42 and 43 just keep it no more than 10miles over the limit. They are always there with the LASER. LASER on the Interstate and k/ka on the local roads.

Just my two cents
