Default Dead Battery....

Anybody have experience with a dead battery?

I mean really dead.....cannot jump start dead.

From what I read I might have damaged the thing......I'm planning to pull it out and trickle charge it....hopefully I didn;t kill it.

It is brandy new....put it in right before storage....I hope I filled out the warranty card!

shouldnt need the warranty card - as long as the sticker on the batt is still in tact.

You wanna hear the Greddy don't you?

As for dead dead. The OEM battery does not like to be drained completely. So if it is I think you're SOL. I hope mine hasn't gone out completely as well.
Were you keeping it in the car or the house? I'm storing mine in the warmth of the house.

That would be one of the advantages of an Optima type battery as they can be fully discharged with no ill effects.

Best thing to do is put it on the charger, and be patient, think days and days of charging. And as always, a longer charge at 2 or 3 amps is best than a short charge at a higher amperage.

I will also say, there are times when batteries just plain die, and I mean totally dead die. My new '05 Titan's battery was dead within less than 1-year, a manufacturing problem. No amount of charging was ever going to help that thing out, and holy crap, that was a huge and costly battery as it is the extreme of heavy duty because of the tow package.

Good luck, and if you are just trying to start the car so it can run for a while, shame the hell on you, that is such an abusive thing to do to a car in storage!

jeff
if it was brandy new before you put it in storage then it might just be a defective battery. pull it and drop it on the counter of where ya bought it.
they will
a.) charge it and say there nothing wrong with it ( but that's ok you now have a charged battery.)
b.) so yeah your right it's dead and give ya a shiny new charged battery for your trouble.

A few years ago my truck needed a new battery. After getting a new 1 from Auto Zone I put it in only to find out it was dead on arrival. They replaced it with no problem.

I still have my OEM battery, so that will get a charge too.

My hero when I was a kid...

So, I have to ask, why do you have 2 batteries?
Is the new one one of the cool little small dry-cell kind?
Did your original S battery die and you just decided to go new and did not want to return it for the core charge?

The batteries in the S are not apparently that powerful. there were a few days this winter when the temps were in the teens or lower due to wind chill and I was concerned at how slow it would initally turn over. It has always had enough so far.

Good luck with the new battery hopefully it will be fine.

Something like that..

My OEM battery was starting to get weak and was 5 years old. It was probably working at 75%......since it wasn't completely toast, I didn't return it for the core charge......a paltry $15.
