Default Deval Patrick is the nominee

Massachusetts has a good chance to have either its first Black Governor, or its first Woman Governor. Who do you think will win?

A politics thread here in New England? Are you in the right place?

I'm not sure who will win. If I say who (or is that whom?) I'd like to see win, that would be too much information that could be used against me.

What do the polls say? They must know.

I have to say Deval Patrick. It's a gut feeling more than anything, but having met him earlier this year I came away with a clear sense that he will connect with voters.

^I've met him twice at the train station. I had a good sense from him too.

He was at our local Boys & Girls Club, and I was struck by how easily he spoke with the kids. Talked to them about education and economic development in terms they could understand, not at all talking down to them. He even told them (mostly 10 - 12 y/o's) that he'd lengthen the school day. Gotta love courage like that!

Jane was our first woman governor but Healey would be our first elected woman governor.

I think you mean Jane NotSo Swift. But she was never technically Governor. Acting Governor was the closest she got, when Cellucci left for Canada.

Haven't met either one, but from the outside...

Deval looks to be a personable guy that truly cares. If I ever get to speak with him, I'd ask him his opinion on Jesse Jackson

Healy looks more politic-driven

My money is on Deval

Not making any derogatory remarks or anything...

I went to high school with the Lt Gov nominee Tim Murry and I couldnt believe he became mayor of Worcester, nevermind now possibly Lt Gov.

He was a crappy QB for our football team. Thank god we had a running game!
