Default Differential / Transmission Fluid Change?

I need to change out my Diff and Tranny fluids in a few weeks.
How should I go about removing and refilling the fluids? Hand-pump (like a turkey baster?)? Or can you buy cheap electric pumps (< $50)? Any comments with experience... highly appreciated.

the best way to do it...
is to pay $35 buck membership fee and do it at Tom's the Tech Day..

otherwise, you need to buy 4 stands, and hand pump to do the work... of course, you need helm menu to tell the tq on every plug.... and you need to buy oil pan...etc

I take it you mean for the "filling" part. The diff fluid usually comes in a container with a pointy top that you cut exposing whatever size of hole you desire. I got a piece of clear plastic tubing and pushed it onto the cut cap. Then just hold the bottle as high as you can and squeeze the fluid into the diff fill hole till it runs out. You can then use the same cap and tubing (clean it first with solvent) and use it for the tranny fluid bottle and do the same thing. If the tranny fluid bottle doesn't have the same size thread as the diff fluid bottle cap, then you can clean out the tranny fluid bottle with solvent and put the tranny fluid into it for the "squeeze".
Oh yeah, the tranny and the diff each have their own drain plug.

I've not changed the transmission or differential fluid on my S2000 yet, but on my other cars (and the lower unit of my I/O) I've used a hand pump. The particular pump I use screws onto the oil container and costs around $10(US). I think I bought mine at a Wal*Mart, but they are also available at autoparts houses, marinas... It's a little easier than doing it the way xviper suggests and I say that from experience. Xviper's way, though, is cheaper and will get the job done.

Thanks for the input. I will let you know how it goes.

I would go to Tbalon's this weekend but I am busy. I am sure it's 10 times easier to do it on a lift.

You can always use empty shampoo or liquid soap bottles with hand pumps to do the job.

Wal-mart sells a large syringe in the auto dept that works really well, too!
