I think a number of you have expressed interest in driving schools etc. The local BMW CCA chapters occasionally run Safety Schools (basically car control clinics), Autocross schools and Advanced/High Performance Drivers' Ed (track based drivers' ed).

This link takes you to the BMW CCA Boston Chapter site. BMWCCA membership is open to anyone - even if you do not or have never owned a BMW.

Francis,
Are you planning to attend the April 14th event at Ft. Devens?

Thanks s2ktaxi!

I messed up and didn't sign up for the driving school that honda_s2k mentioned a week ago.

Yes. Thanks s2ktaxi. It look's like the driver training sessions fill up pretty fast. Also, did you notice that a 4-point seatbelt is required for convertibles?

g-s2k,
You can still register for the Track Time school. You missed out on the $100 discount for early registration. There are going to be more than a few S2000's there. Tim_S2k will be going too.

The S2000's with stock hoops are not allowed at the BMWCCA track events but you can do the autocross and safety school events - which is a good start. I still try to do as many safety schools as I can even though it is seen as a beginner thing.

s2ktaxi,

Please let us know which schools you will be attending. I would like to join you. I have almost seven weeks of accumulated vacation time to burn this year.

The first thing to do is to make sure you have your BMWCCA membership in place. You can say I referred you if you want (I don't get anything for it, though) when asked and I think you can do this over the phone.

I am going to try to do some autocrosses this year (never done one actually because the logistics were too poor in the past but has changed this year for the better). That said, I am going to be there April 14 and will try to get to the others in the series as well. I know there will be another yellow S2000 there besides me. If there are enough of us, maybe we will get our own series!

I am going to try to get into the April 20 Driving School at NHIS but will use the NSX for that one.

As far as S2000 events, we will have to try to use those of other groups. I'll try to figure out which ones they are and post to the S2000 New England Calendar.
