Default Farthest Road Trip

So I'm going to Asheville, NC next month with my gf for 4 days. I'm really leaning towards taking the S, the gf wants to take my Accord because it's more comfy. My argument is we will be really close to Dragon's Tail and not taking the S would be regrettable.

This made me want to ask. What is the farthest road trip you've taken in the S?

We've taken the S to Cape Breton in Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island in Canada, and a couple trips to VA. The trips to Canada were almost equal in distance to NC.

We enjoy road trips in the S. Pack a big duffle bag of what you need and if need be do laundry mid week. Make sure your tires are REALLY good in the event you run into rain.

Are you driving down in one day? That we don't do, and we do stop fairly often.

Tell the gf that people take road trips in the S all the time.

I have been to TN/NC (The Dragon) about 5 times, and Myrtle Beach SC another. It's a long trip but not that bad in the S. I have done single day trips and multi day trips. I prefer multi-day but the single day was do-able.

That area is beautiful, you'll want your S2000. Jump on the Blue Ridge Parkway while you're there!

CT to Dragon......850 miles door to door. 2-3 people from MA picked me up on the way and picked more people up on our way down to caravan.

You have to pack lightly. One tip might be to pull the tool tray to gain a few extra inches of storage.

The ride is great but if you're going top down during the day watch out you don't get sun burned on 1/2 your face or get a seat belt line. Not speaking from experience or anything I had a "friend" that happened to.

Washington, D.C. to New Milford, CT on the day I picked it up and brought it home.

My advice is "Take the S!"

I've driven my S back and forth from NY to FL and back 4 times. Great road trip car besides trying to sleep in the passenger seat.

One tip for comfort on the highway, and a more enjoyable ride. It's geeky, but windows up, AC on. If you don't like the heat, the top does go up.

Pack plenty of sunscreen, and a small cooler with beverages too. Of course beverages may = more stops for the rest room.

You or your gf may look like something the cat dragged in when you arrive, but everything just looks better when you view it from a convertible. Even the highway. Baseball caps hide bad hair days and give you some protection from the sun

To complete the geeky look one of these (hat clips) will prevent you from having to wear a baseball cap too tight or to chance it from blowing off your head.

Chums hat clips. You can get them on Amazon, but the shipping it ridiculous. Marine supply stores also carry them.

Another take the S vote!

Impressed with some of the distances posted here.

I've gone with the +1 to northern Virginia and back from Eastern CT. About 370 miles each way. We did the return trip in one shot (save for 1 gas stop) entirely top-down. Our '00 on the OEM Potenza S-02s had a very stiff ride, but it was still worth it.

I'd agree with Lainey about putting the windows up for long highway runs... I didn't on the return trip, and while it wasn't bad, my head kinda felt like I'd lost a pillow fight.

2900 miles from Minneapolis to Vancouver, BC Canada, including a detour to Iowa. It was fun! When the top was up we would store stuff in the soft-top well.
