Default gmail voice calling

FREE calls inside the US through g-mail for the rest of the year - got a feeling that this should kill regular home phone service..

pretty cool stuff - sounds great too

Could get the most basic of home phone plans, no long distance and save a few bucks.......will have to try it, but right now under contract with Verizon for a plan.

i'd get rid of the home phone all together - and then either your cell (free long distance) or gmail phone

then again i think the folks are the only customer base the landline phone compaines have left

I still like having the land line....phones all over the house, don't have to carry a cell phone around. With the cheap cell phone plans we have it works out OK in the money dept.

I don't HAVE to have a land line for the DSL, but they charge you plenty if you don't. Still haven't switched internet to the cable thieves yet. Verizon has been giving me a decent deal.

I'm locked in for a while, but I will check out the google thing.

I use google for all my voicemail right now. Works great.

In addition to free voice calls, they offer free text messaging too. It's awesome!

you are correct those old got a death grip on their old landlines.

But evolution says don't buy ma bell and hold for the future

Nothing is more convenient than the small portable form factor of a cell phone but the RC factor comes into play here.

RC = Resistance to change, which is the death of progress.

It's a matter of preference. I have phones all over the house. I LIKE that convenience. To me, that is more convenient than one cell phone.

Just a matter of preference, not resistant to change.
