That's awesome! I love DSL...well at least when customers are not calling me because something broke. Here in Vermont we just installed ADSL2+, and are starting to roll it out to customers now... Up to 24Mb/s downstream and Up to 2Mb/s upstream (distance dependent like any other DSL).

Justin,

I have NO idea what you just said Are you saying DSL is getting better?

George,

We had dial up until last fall, but I had DSL at work. I "managed" with the dial up at home until then, but this site works way better with DSL, as I'm sure you know.

Besides, you need DSL now. When your little one is ready to go on the computer, (it will happen faster than you ever realize) the kiddie sites don't load worth.........on dial up.

Where is that baby anyway?

Elaine, what Justin is saying will be quite a rev-up from today's stuff. 24 Megabits is nearly 8x improvement over the top cable service right now from Charter (which is 3 Mb). Keep in mind that your performance over such a service will be hampered by whatever wireless gear you're running in your house. If you have some of the older networking stuff (802.11b is the name of it), you're limited to 10 Mb.

Hope that helps. I wasn't aware of this new DSL thing. Sounds awesome. Wonder if I'll be able to get it in my town.

Thanks Chaz!

A tech person I am not. I connect, I get online and that works for me. Give my granddaughter a few years, and like most kids, she'll tell me what I need to know.

Sometimes geek-speak really puts people off. Usually, the underlying concepts are very simple though, Elaine. Kids grow up with the tech, and it doesn't seem foreign to them. (for better or for worse, I might add)

Hey Justin, I'm on SBC Yahoo. Its only ADSL. Not even sure the speed of it yet. I should run a little test. Although it took me some time on my Dell Latitude with the built in wireless to get it going. Trying to get it on the g standard, damn thing is only hooking up on the b!

Oh did a test on my work network using http://reviews.cnet.com/7004-7254_7-0.html

Connection Type Connection Speed Faster Providers
1544.0 Kbps Full T1 1.544Mbps
1958.7 Kbps - You 1958.7 kbps Not too shabby!
3000.0 Kbps N x T1 3.0Mbps Bandwidth.com

Have to try home later. Click on the link its fairly easy and no popup or spam.
