I'm going out side to plant flowers. Flowers and plants help the environment right? I'm going to put my newspaper in the recycle bin.

I'll check back in here later to see where you guys have taken this thread!

Exactly. Didn't they ban saturated fat in NYC or something crazy like that?

I'm older than the guy that wrote that article. I was one of those kids getting 10mpg, gobbling up burgers at White Castle and loving it (although I never smoked). It WAS fun. But times change. Now I recycle evrything I can, carry my own bags to the store and keep the thermostat down in the winter. However, I've never been to Aruba and don't own video games. Times change and we all change with them. There are other things available today that replaced the joys of yesterday. Things weren't better in the sixties, just different. Better maybe for some but worse for others.

I read an essay once that explained that all progress is a myth. I think that's true. We don't know more than people did 50, 100, or 1,000 years ago. We just know different stuff. The changes described in the subject article are simply manifestations of that shift in knowlege. And with it, what passes for fun and socially acceptable behavior.

Jeff, it's pretty easy to picture you about 25 years from now standing on your front porch yelling ""HEY YOU KIDS, GET OFF OF MY LAWN"

Perhaps you're becoming a bitter old man well before your time?

Stop to consider that the reason *YOU* find it silly is that I don't really care for you and don't have the same type of discussion I would with Steve or Jerry or someone I like.
So you will only listen to people's viewpoints if you care about them? And you wonder why I think any sort of discussion with you is pointless?
