I have winter tires on my S, and I found out that while I feel safer on them in cold weather, they still don't grip the dry road all that well, either. There's a squishier threshold, though, so it's far more predictable... (the rear tends to slide out, not snap out).
The last time I drove aggressively with the snows on, I went to pass a limo late at night. I VTEC'd in 2nd gear coming off the ramp and found myself fishtailing for quite a distance due to the squishy tread carrying side to side momentum. The summers would have snapped back in with a slight throttle lift (albeit they woulda lost traction quicker) but the winters are gummy and slide more.
The end result is similar... I just have to drive less aggressively in the winter.

Having a car for 10+ years and knowing exactly what it will do in any situation
really helps to determine what a safe speed is.
Just have to watch out in the turns.
