Default Hardtop Questions

Hello , I am just looking for some opinions about hardtops. I have come across a
used Sebring top with a Honda stand and a Honda cover but without the side catchers ,
interior panels and defroster items. I havn't seen it yet but it is supposed
to be in very good condition.

1) In your opinion what is a fair price for the top , stand and cover.

2) If you have a hardtop how much do you use it?

3) Are there any negatives to a hardtop?

4) How easy is it to install the panels , catchers and wiring?

5) How difficult is it to get the top on and off?

6) During winter storage is it O.K. to leave the hardtop on and will the months
of being folded damage the soft top?

7) Are there any issues of damage or scratching where the top meets the body?

8) If it is in the condition I am told it is in I will most likely buy it as I believe
the price I was qouted is fair. If after I buy it I decide it is not for me how
much of a demand is there for used hardtops and will I easily be able to
find another buyer.

Your opinions are greatly appreciated , Thanks

I'll answer a few of your questions:
2-Top is on from Oct through April, and occasionally during the summer.
3-storage space
5-with a helping hand the top can be put on/taken off in less than a minute.
6-yes, I've done it for 4 winters now, no problems
7-Just be sure you have someone to help you putting it on/taking it off. I don't have any scratches from the top.

1) In your opinion what is a fair price for the top , stand and cover. Used $1,500-2,000

2) If you have a hardtop how much do you use it? LOVE IT!!!! I put it on when it gets cold and off when it gets warm, it does make the car though IMO

3) Are there any negatives to a hardtop? Not having one

4) How easy is it to install the panels , catchers and wiring?I had hardtop guy install mine

5) How difficult is it to get the top on and off?You need 2 people, its not really heavy just wide and you cant get your arms around it

6) During winter storage is it O.K. to leave the hardtop on and will the months
of being folded damage the soft top?I have done it with no problem

7) Are there any issues of damage or scratching where the top meets the body?Nope

i bought one a few years back for $750.00 (steal) and then it was another $500.00 for all the hardware to mount it to the car

honestly it was cool BUT i didn't really need it.. as others have said - two people to put on - storage space

I know some folks like the look of a hard top, and it does give the car a different look, but it's not for us.

We bought the S because it is a convertible, and see no need to add a hard top.

If you are driving the car year round, your weather is less than desirable, and you have the storage space, then a hard top may be the way to go.

Some kid in jersey was selling it for $750.00 - he trashed his car and just wanted the hardtop out of the garage - it was worth the 5 hour drive because he didn't know what it was worth

Excellent, Steve. Everyone likes a good opportunist! When we're not busy being envious.

If I found one for $750, I'd buy it in a second. Even at a bit above that, I'd pick one up. I have no desire at all to drive my car in the winter or make it a hardtop; I'd keep it mainly to allow my car to run at tracks that require a rollbar or a hardtop.

Where's the best place to buy a new hardtop with all the fixings to fit an '07? I could have sworn there is a cheaper place to get one other then the dealer? I kind of like the look of a hardtop sometimes and have plenty of storage space. To be honest if a used one would fit an '07 I'd buy any color as I could paint it myself.
