Heart Transplant
Well I didn't take pictures along the way well not much of any that would be cool to look at. I know you are just so bummed.
So the old engine is OUT and the replacement engine is in. Took a while to get this far but the past 2 days huge progress has been made. It's now in the car and hooked up to the tranny and bolted up. So it's just a matter of torquing everything down, installing the misc. accessory components, connecting the rest of the wires/hoses and filling her up with oil and radiator fluid. I should be turning her over tomorrow afternoon. Crossing fingers that I don't have any CEL's and that it actually STARTS!
Background: As some of you know I spun a bearing in my original '00 engine after somewhere around 115K. #4 oil starvation it seems. Bore scope really told the picture of the OMG on the #4 cylinder walls. I didn't upgrade to the newer banjo bolts but well after 80K and no plans to go FI I figured what the hell. Either damage is done or it's going to be fine. Well damage was done!
So as it now stands the engine that is going in has only 16K miles. I bought a "new" '04 Tranny with 6 miles on it at about 100K and late last year I sold off my 4.77 diff in exchange for a 4.10 as with the '04 Tranny the gearing just was to much to deal with. It has about 16 K miles on it.
So essentially if this engine is good and all goes well I will have a driveline of main components all with about 16K miles on them! Drive shaft and 1/2 shafts are still original(wish I upgraded to an AP2 drive shaft)
Here is the fun part. I have the gauge cluster out of the car that matches with this engine........I think I will be putting that into my car and I will have essentially rolled back 100K miles but it will accurately reflect the engine's mileage! I know if I ever sell I will have to divulge this information but I am not selling any time soon.

I Think it would also trip the emissions testing for mileage fraud.
Carfax would probably flag it too.
I don't know about CT but in MA you would have to file paperwork with the state to do that.

I'd like to add my best wishes for the success of your project.
From what I read on here over the years, the ground wire(s) that connect to the back of the head (by the firewall) are a commonly overlooked item.
Again, good luck with your project.

I had all the time in the world to take pictures but I just didn't. Sorry guys.
I did snap a quick shot as I was pulling the engine out.(bye bye)

Just a picture of the clutch(ACT with OEM PP). It only has 16K on it so I didn't have to do much of anything in the way of greasing.

Red: As for the ground that goes from the engine or tranny to the subframe was connected. I actually disconnected it from the old engine and from the subframe on the donor car. So I got there and had 2 ground wires staring at me!
Blue: You still interested in the fuel filler from the other car?(and the H)
Kenta: I think I will have to make a call after I get the car running and see what they say. As for it being hard? YES it was hard! Luckily I had an S2000 guy came down to help me pull the engine out and was able to get a visual walk through of what/how to do it.(Terence) That was a huge help seeing it done in person by a PRO the first time. So that made it much easier.
Things I had to buy to complete this extraction? 2 Ton hoist, engine stand, LONG needle nose pliers(one with L tip), short impact sockets, better impact swivel, 12 point socket set, long long wrenches, vice grip(pinch gas line). I know there were other things too but I had most everything else in my tool box!
So I tried to turn it over but I soon realized that the immobilizer forgot the key. It did this last time it was off the battery for a LONG period of time and took 24 hours to REMEMBER the key. So it's now all set and ready to go but the immobilizer is keeping it from starting. It's turning over very nicely which is good.

Pinky,
I'll get the emblem from you at some point, work as well as life in general, has been well, rather hectic putting it mildly.
Right now i can't even begin to imagine when i can do the fuel filler.

Long story short SHE LIVES.
Long Story: No CEL's. I had an issue where the ECU doesn't recognize the pre-programmed factory key(blinking green key). Well after about 12 hours it finally charges or lets the computer work through enough of its processes and it recognizes the key! So I didn't get the grand first time start on camera but it's better that way......was way to nervous. Still have a few more final things to do and check over before I can take her out on the road.
HUGE THANKS goes out to Legal Bill for helping me find the car/engine, s2000sccaracer for transportation, Fernando for help removing the tranny, Billman250 for his helpful posts and sending me over a clutch alignment tool. Mostly the thanks go out to my wife for talking me INTO buying!

Congrats on the successful undertaking... looks like a big effort!
I'm almost ashamed to admit it after seeing the search results, but despite my 4.5 yrs on this forum, I missed discussions about the banjo bolts. I have an '00 AP1 with 100k miles on it, and as far as I know, they're the original ones. I suppose I should look into doing it...
