I have a few days off in between jobs so I decided to repaint my bedroom. My first try to paint a hip, modern theme last year did not turn out exactly what I had in mind. This time around I am thinking of keeping the two-tone, but with darker moss green and earth tone. Also keeping the colors flat (least shine/reflective). I like to hear what advices you guys have though. Help me out. Any advices welcome.
Room size: 13' x 13'
plenty of light...
And yes, I am aware the bedroom could use some furniture...
I'm no interior decorator,(and have never tried to help anyone "pimp" a room) but that wheel in the bedroom has got to go!
A popular color now is a sage green, which may look good with a light tan for contrast? Not sure that is dark enough for the earth tones you are looking for, or maybe too "girlie'?
Benjamin Moore makes a nice paint with a matte finish. I think it's called Regal Matte finish.
Thanks Lainey. I am going to checkout BM's website for sage green right now. It has pretty darn cool interactive tools to help you select the colors. I am also using Photoshop to sample different color combos. This would be the 4th time I repaint the bedroom and I want it to be the last.
Oh yeah, the wheel is not meant to be a decorative piece. I just need to clear out some space in the nook area to store it.
How about some art or a large mirror for the wall. Ralph Lauren has some great interior colors that create texture in the pattern. It's a base color then a tinted glaze that gets put on with a coarse brush. Quite nice, and I am painting my aprtment with it; available at Home Depot.
Now if we wanted to "pimp" your room, Ben, we'd add some mirrors...
Seriously though, I agree with Lainey-sage green is a popular color now and depending on the shade, doesn't need to be girley.
ITA about your bed, though....
Hey, sage green is fine. I don't think Ben is unsure of himself in "that" department. It will reveal his "sensitive" side and some woman will be impressed with his decorating.
