knock sensor is located under the intake manifold screwed into the block . You should be able to see it .It will be green . Make sure it is plugged in , i have seen them snap in half .

Could not reach the sensor from the top of the engine bay. After reading the shop manual page (section) 11-70 it says that it would be easier to reach from underneath the car....is it safe for me to drive the car for about 15 miles? that way I can put it up on the lift and hopefully take care of the problem

can you see if its pluged in or broken. if it is not okay i would not suggest driving it. If anything jack the car up real quick and crawl under so you can confirm the problem.

that's what my plan of action is

but just wondering if it's ok to drive it. I'm at work all day, will jack up the car tomorrow morning.

Steve, can you come over and help me jack up the "s"?

Removed the sensor this morning.....I have to say, there's no way you can see the sensor from the top or from underneath the car, its all done by the feel of your hand......thankfully I have removed the right sensor

the new one should be in tomorrow morning, so I can install it back on Thursday morning. I also checked the wire to see if it was cracked or bent and it didn't appear so. I will install the sensor and give it a test.

Couple of the techs here said that often they see the wire cracked or stripped and the ones to blaim are mouses.......will report back on Thursday.
