how about Excel's concatenate

so add 900 columns of ' (click and drag) then concatenate the two columns to make one (it joins them together)

If you numbers are consecutive all you need to do is change the first cell. click in the first cell and the little square on the bottom right, double click it and it should change all the numbers going down.

and then you could do an edit find replace to get rid of the first 0

ie find '0 replace with '

dave he wants to add ' - not too sure what you mean by click and drag - sure a click and drag would give him
1
2
3
4
but i don't see how that would add the '

also if you want the ' to show up you need to type it like this '' and one ' will show up

you're right if he starts with '' (two singles) it will drag if the numbers are consective however he still needs to get rid of an extra zero

the edit find replace will remove the extra zero and add the '

the numbers have a lot of zeros in them so i cant do the replace and find option.
