Default Help Select: Drive the Wine Country of CT

For those of you that don't know what this drive is about. This drive will take you through some of Eastern Connecticut's most scenic and historic towns. We will be stopping at vineyards and sample of their wines.

This trip through the Wine country of Connecticut will start from the southern part of the Trail in Stonington and end in the northern part of the Trail in Promfret. We will all meet half-way at Priam Vineyards for a box lunch. The afternoon will consist of a drive to Sharpe Hill Vineyard located in the historic town of Pomfret-just minutes from scenic Route 169 and from the Putnam antiques district.

Haven't been on the wine drive in a long time....voted for the 26th as that's the only day we could make it.

Voted.

Unrelated to CT, but related to wine. I went to Long Island wine country for two days a few weeks ago. The +1 and I hit up about a dozen wineries over those two days for tastings. Ferry 1-way from New London will cost about $60 (I think it's 45 for the car, + 15 for one additional person). A single flight cost between 7-10 bucks at most places. Pours were pretty generous, but then again we were there off season. Most of the tasting rooms were large so I assume during peak these places are nut houses. Spring and Early summary you'll probably be ok. Plenty of decent whites, a few good reds. The reds I did like were mostly cab franc's. So, recommended for a weekend getaway if you're into wine.
