Default Hey Bass

On the way back from Dave's my Garmin (5 months old) quit working. Wouldn't work on 12v at all, the battery went dead and that was that. Needless to say I was PISSED. Stopped at my local Circuit City and of course they told me I'd have to send it back to Garmin. SCREW THAT! I said to the chick in the Customer Service booth "F IT! YOU CAN JUST TOSS IT OUT AND I'LL GO TO BEST BUY AND MAYBE THEY CAN SELL ME ONE THAT'S GONNA LAST" As an afterthought she said "oh take it in the back and maybe they can bench test it". The chick back there removed the bezel and showed me a reset button. Seems to be working fine now, at least on 12v power. I have it charging now from my laptop, so we'll see if that takes.

Wow, that kinda bites Bruce, only 5 months old. I guess they all have a reset? Glad it was something that relatively simple and cheap.

I did my first road trip today with only GPS help, no maps or mapquest print out. Was 100% dead on. I love Tom

Bruce check the car charger too. I know one guy had a bad charger and couldn't get the thing to work.

Bass and Erick and I checked everything. Something made it crash, but at least now I know where they hide the reset button.

OK, we all know I'm not a techie. Does anyone know if the top of my laptop has to be open for the USB port to have power? I'm wondering if I can close it overnight and still have the Garmin charge.

yes, the usb should still have power even when the computer is hibernating or in standby. The only time it will be off is when the computer is completely shut down. This was a problem for me with my carputer.
