Car and Driver did an article on road construction injuries. Turns out most of the "hit by vehicle" accidents involve a CONSTRUCTION vehicle.

Yeah, $60k is great money to get shot at, spit at by people with hepatitis, almost run over by people, fight with people who have nothing to lose, pricked in the finger with a junkie's needle while searching him, get scabies from a woman while taking her into custody, have to live with the knowledge you had to kill a man because of your job etc etc...

I think anyone who really knows me knows that I absolutely LOVE my job. But there is no doubt I do it for the love of it more than the pay. Taking all those things above and a million more and add in the fact that I have a family to provide for and $60k is about worthless if you take away the option to make some more via overtime or road details.

The public wants smart, honest, brave and qualified officers, but no one wants to pay for what the job entails. When you guys end up with Don Knotts protecting your family, you can be happy that he won't get the chance to make an honest living doing so.
no way.... I want mercenaries !! if i get robbed or raped i want Blackwater type police to hunt down the scum bags and kill them (unless it was a hawt supermodel who raped me) !! plain and simple and a bullet only costs a few pennies... - think we can get those for 60k each if so i'm all for a tax increase

http://www.boston.com/news/local/articles/...details/?page=1

i always thought companies such as Verizon and others paid for the details - but i guess if it's for road maintenance and other town stuff then it must come from the town budget

you and i differ so much on politics and this is no different - however i see it as a republican ie i don't want to see any tax increases (unlike most all other liberal bastards ) and you see it as a democrat - more taxes to pay for service go figure
