So, what's the deal with the mapshare feature? I got the tomtom few months ago and have used it a few times. Have yet to connect it to the PC or try mapshare, what am I missing by not doing so?

I think what zippy was eluding to about black boxes, is that all ECUs record the last 25 seconds or so of driving data before a crash. No way to get around this.

Tadashi. What model did you get?
Mine is base model TomTom "ONE". I am happy with it so far. Only small quirk is the final destination, it sometimes tells you that you have arrived a little early... like it told me I was home about 5 houses before I was.

It plotted a route home from a really remote location yesterday. I think there might have been an easier way to go but we did get where I wanted to go and found some interesting small roads in the mix.

The other thing I really like is that if you take a different route than what it tells you, it auto recalculates the route... like it showed me the interstate route by default to begin but one of the local guys I followed (group drive in NY yesterday) was taking a back way and once I made the first "wrong turn" it recalculated the route and caught up to where we actually were driving and showed me the route from there.

Overall still

Ellen, the Garmin does the same when arriving at some destinations. That hotel in Port Jervis NY, for example. We were on that winding dark road and it told us "arriving at Comfort Inn."

Same deal as to when you make a wrong turn, change your route. After you've reached the point of a U turn being the shorter/faster time, it will adjust to the route you're on.

Great little gadgets!

I like it when the people that own buisnesses put there home address as the POI address. Last year traveling to PA the plus 1 needed a bathroom stop so i selected POI fast food looking for a Mickeys D's or a Burger king etc well there was supposedly a BK close by so I chose that, a few minutes later while traveling thru a very affluent neighborhood i heard the ding you have arrived. it was the bk owners house. After arriving home I experimented with my own city and lo and behold a lot of people register their biz with their home addy. If was fun driving around finding out where some of the biz owners in my town live.
