i need to know
I have a shot at making a buck on selling a 2004 sti with a blown motor. I need to know what it's worth:
2004 STI in ok shape, bad fender bad rear bumper, dirty inside, good tranny with 65k. Whats this thing worth? I have a few days to figure it out

How much will all the repairs cost? Include actual labor rates, not just the cost of parts. Subtract that from the lowest private party value and that will give you a good idea how much you have to work with.
Part out is fine, but I have seen many people left with more parts than they expected after interest stops. Plus, if the interior is not clean/like new, that probably won't sell for very much. I really don't know what STi parts are "hot" on the used market, but I would think the drive train is critical to the part value, and you don't have a good turbo or engine. Be careful. If I were in your shoes, I'd call someone like Scott and ask them how much to buy and install a junk yard motor.
I would get on NOSIAC or whatever it is and just list it as a TOTAL part-out there will be people out there that want the weirdest parts and pieces. As long as your willing to strip it down when someone asks for some lame part then i think you could make some good money off it. Im sure u can still make some bucks off the motor even with it being fuxor'd. the tranny will probably pull some good money along with the STI interior.
If you down owe anything on it or you dont have to pay to pick it up i bet u could get a good ammount of money outta it. Just guessing.... $7500 after everyone takes every nut and bolt off it. then sell the rolling chassis

I havn't worked out a final price. A junkyard ej20 w/ twinscroll turbo is bank. I can install it, but i'd rather sell it and make a few bucks rather than tie up more money going into the home heating season. plus if it was running, i'd want to keep it and i bet my better half doesn't want a 4th car in the driveway.
