I had my car aligned to UK specs last week and was able to drive about 15+ runs at the BMWCCA Test and Tune last Saturday. Here are some observations:

My before alignment settings were a bit off from factory specs but still reasonable.

I went within 0.16" total toe for the rear which is the minimum. I don't like too much tire scrubbing in the rear to increase feel. Though, this increases the likelihood of oversteer, the rear felt very planted.

Overall, the rear end was much more planted than before and even more so than the '02 suspension. The '01 with the UK specs has a higher limit and is just as easy to control/countersteer. Turn in was sharper in my current setup than in a stock '02. Probably has to do with the softer bushings and softer front sway bar in the '02.

The thing I did not like is that I got more understeer than I would have liked. The rear felt like it had far more grip than the front. I will probably increase front camber to 1.25 from 1.00 degree to get a bit less understeer.

I strongly recommend the UK alignment spec for those of you with '00-01 S2000s. It raises your cornering limit and makes the car safer under power. The only downside is more inside tire wear...

Once you put track tires on the front (225/50) and the rear at (245/45), you will probably be wishing for understeer...

Kind Regards, Chris

Francis,

Sounds like what I am looking for. What alignment shop do you recommend?

Did not try to drive that combo at the autocross, but it would give me even more understeer.

Did you lap times improve with the UK alighnment specs?

For less understeer then you need to either adjust your alignment or do a softer sway bar. Pickup an '02 sway bar or have you done this already?

Though you already knew that.
