Input on Hyundai's
I know how I feel about this, but wanted to know if my feelings are based in fact.
My son is looking to buy his frist new car (he is 22). He is single and is currently driving my 94 Civic Coupe (around 250,000 miles). He is not a big car buff and wants to spend less than $20K.
I sugg. another Civic Coupe but I think he is bored with us always buying Honda (we have 5 at my house). He asked about the Hyundai Tiburon. I know Hyundai had their problems years ago but have heard that the quality has improved alot since then.
Again, keep in mind that he is not into modding the car nor is he an enthusiast and basically wants something that looks good and not too plain.
Does anyone have or know of others that have had any experience with them?
Any other suggestions?
Thanks,
Jim

I've been impressed by the New Tiburon.
Less than 20K, V6, 17"" Rims, 6 Speed.
Hyundai isn't the same ole POS car it once was.
I also have heard that quality has improved.
...Can't say I have first hand knowledge.
Plus, they claim to have the"Best" Warranty.
I wouldn't look down at anyone that owned one.
In fact there's one HOT CHICK that I work with that has one.

I know that there are always isolated cases where you may just get a bad car, that is when the dealership becomes important. Our local Nissan dealer sucks and has been no help.
If the dealer was good, I would be less hesitant.
But I do appreciate the input.
Thanks
my previous car was a 2002 Nissan Altima 3.5 SE and it was money. Had it for about 16mo and never had a problem with it (except a few speeding tickets). Just another point of view. Good luck in the search. I think the Tiburon's are pretty sharp actually....
My opinion: Stay away from the altima. My Fiance and I just got rid of her 2002 3.5 SE. That thing was a real piece. The engine was solid, but everything else about the car sucked. VERY cheaply made interior, parts broke easily and just looked like cheap toy plastic. Also, the thing lost traction very easily, in wet or snowy weather. Overall, I think the build quaility lacked severly in Nissan's attempt to make a profit. All they ended up making was junk, good ridance.
Jim the only thing bad that you can say about the tiburon is the resale value, right now the value on them sucks so you could take a hit if he doesn't want it for a long time. Other than that the car is great for what you pay for it and there is plenty of AM parts for it too
