Default Integra won't start

Chris's Integra had two problems today. First, the exhaust pipe broke right at the flange connection with then catalytic converter. One mile after that happened, the car stopped running.

We had the car towed home. I found the broken pipe and replaced it. I saw that the O2 sensor was right before the flange end of the cat, so I hoped maybe that is what caused the engine to quit. I disconnected the battery for about two hours, cleaned the terminal, reconnected and still it would not start. I pulled the ECU fuse and then replaced it, and it still would not start. I pulled the #1 spark plug and tried to test for a spark. I didn't get any spark, but I'm not sure you can test for spark on these electronically controlled engines by holding the spark plug to a ground, which is what I did.

If that test is valid, then we have no spark. If it is not, is there a quick way to test? And finally, if in fact we have no spark, what should i check besides the cap and rotor?

And really finally, could the O2 sensor be blown and if so, does that stop the car from starting?

http://autorepair.about.com/library/faqs/bl591d.htm

There is no pickup coil as such any more. The ignitor performs that function as dictated by the PCM. It is possible the Crankshaft Position Sensor (CPS) is bad. That tells the PCM where the crankshaft is and when to signal the ignitor to fire. It is also possible the PCM is bad. But the most likely culprit is that Main Relay.

What you need to do is pull the codes from the computer and see what they are. They will put you in the right direction to look.

I assume is cranked, but no start....check any other fuses?
Any wires near the broken pipe that might have got fried?
any CEL before you reset the ECU?

I would start with all ecu related fuses and relays.

This was my guess when he called and said the exhaust broke .

The car will spark the plug if the ignition was good with your method . The Distributor is the cam sensor

First I would take a test light and test all the fuses with the key on . I am sure you know how to prob the back side of the fuses .

Both things Steve mentioned are also known issues . I have never had the privilege of them happening to me . But I know others that have .
