It's like stalling the engine on your S2000...

Some wealthy eccentric bought a submarine for personal use (formerly used by Universal Studios). Apparently he broke down out on Long Island Sound, and the Coast Guard towed him into the Thames River here... and moored it right across from Electric Boat for everyone to see. Even the Navy subs have to go past it.
So everyone here is getting a good chuckle. Seems pretty neat, but you gotta feel inadequate when a real sub goes by.

it's still better than my sub

I think I saw recently that the drug cartel was using submarines to ship drugs to ports on the west coast. The drug cartel subs can apparently make the 110,000 weight necessary to submerge and they apparently have the ability to mask their exhaust so that the DEA airplanes overhead can't spot them with the DEA's heat seeking devices. No one knows for sure since the theory is that the submarines are scuttled once they make their delivery.
The Chinese and North Korean military are apparently able to sell quite a few of these way down in South America.

wtf... this guy has money to burn
"A sometimes-frustrating work in progress, and some $500,000 later, Deep Quest now is fully insulated and equipped with amenities including central heat and air conditioning, microwave oven and wide screen TV. It’s a live-aboard, even when docked in Clearwater Beach where creature comforts are readily available at much fancier digs. Re prefers to remain with his submarine"
