Lock the PACO election thread?
I'm having a tough time understanding why this forum needs to be "that" regulated. Aren't things fine the way they are?? I just can't believe there are soooo many issues and so much thin skin that we need someone reading every thread all the time to make sure someone doesn't set off Jeff...
... or anyone else...

The problems arrise when you get one CO who gets offended by a certain thread and deletes it, the other COs have no problem with it. One CO decides half the forum should be stickied, the other's don't. One CO disagrees with the others on anything and makes a quazi-rule about something the others do not believe in.
Who is REALLY in charge? Who do we listen to? Who calls the shots?
I think doing this will introduce a certain amount of partisan politics into the day to day doings of a regional car forum. Is that really what we need or want?
Is all this happening because a certain group of folks want to have thread stickied at the drop of a hat? Why bother? It just adds to the clutter and most people look right past the sticky area when browsing forums anyway. Have you ever seen how many times people have asked how to run a power wire in the S2000 in the electronics forum? It is stickied right at the top but no one reads it. Stickies are half-useless.
When a meet thread is coming up, people generally post in is very frequently, keeping it at the top anyway. Can't find a thread on a meet? We already have a sticky with all the meets listed. Planning a new meet? Make a new thread for it and ask that it be linked to in the thread we already have. Why make more of a mess?
Maybe people get off on having a thread they started stickied? I guess that is some sort of internet accomplishment

IMO, the stickies are good for FAQ threads and other crap that needs to be readily available to members but won't be replied to often like the hardtop raffle thread. Most people don;t find the need to post up "I just bought mine!!!"
just to increase their PPD ratio.

I am going to go off regardless!!!!

at least you always know where I am coming from.
With a forum that has a high degree of activity like this one, it can be very important to have a CO who is equally active. It would seem to me all of us should be able to recall how some simple situations can spiral out of control and turn into much larger issues, just because there was no CO posting at the time that could have interjected some degree of etiquette, which may have stopped something simple from turning into something ugly.
With a forum that is very active you must have an equally active CO. People who oppose anything else simple want to feel the freedom to control things when clearly it is not up to them but up to a CO.

Doug,
Why would we need more oversite or a baby sitter? We are all adults here. I don't need someone telling me that I have to play nice. Quite frankly, I wouldn't listen anyway.
the only stuff I try to stay away from is anything that would offend a person based on their race/religion/creed. Everything else is fair game. I am sure there are plenty of folks who don't like what I have to say. Those folks can ignore me. At the same time, I am more than willing to bet that there are also people who enjoy me being frank on issues as well.
I use this as an example that we don't need one person babysitting us and telling us what is morally correct, politically correct or any other type of correct in our posts.
IF (and I don't think I have ever seen any) a post was made that was hateful to a person's race/religion or creed, I think a simple report to a CO would suffice and I am sure the other members of the forum would censure as needed.
the last thing we need is the "politically correct CO" in this forum.
