Default 'MAN' tools

so with prompting by seriousrex about the leaf blower i'm out the clearing the D^MN pine needles and i got to thinking.
to extend Mans dominion over his environment there are certains tools I guy just has got to have. and oh yeah they _MUST_ be power tools.
two cycle motors, could be a chain saw or a leaf blower. a chipper would be cool.
electric power tools, anything over half a horsepower qualifies. or by porter cable.

snow blowers sorta count but just aren't as much fun, cause after the first time it's just work.
an air compressor and power tools to go with it like a pnuematic wrench or a power nailer.

oh oh almost forgot gas powered pressure washers, the big 3000 PSI ones.

any others?

Great topic. I am glad to see I inspired you to clear the yard If it werent for the high winds over here, I would have attempted the same today.

Having blanketed all gas powered tools, pnuematics and heavy electrics, I would point out that pneumatics or any tools that harness air power like impact wrenches, air ratchets and grinders are the best (IMO). If you have a compressor and an impact wrench, you can save yourself hours of cussing and bloody knuckles on almost any automotive project that requires disasembly of things that have been stuck together for years.

I dont know if this will fit into the category of "tools", but a vehicle lift has always been one of my favorites. What guy doesn't dream of having his very own full size lift in his garage? Just seeing one hoist a car into the air for man to work under it is awe inspiring, to me that makes it a "big boy toy" if not a tool.

I agree with the car lift. Add a blast cabinet for bead blasitng parts and a set of welders (gas and mig). I got the welders, but the Mig needs the argon kit so I can really mig weld and not just wire weld.

I just bought a small metal plating kit to zinc plate parts. If that works, I might look into some triple plate equipment.

I also wish I had a metal brake and an english wheel. Plus a paint booth and a real nice paint sprayer.

Plus I need a seperate four car garage.

I'm painfully devoid of appropriate MAN tools around here. The Troy-Bilt snowblower is the extent of it. And, for the record, I *do* think that counts.

I write checks to cut my lawn, paint my house, trim my trees, clear my gutters, open/close my pool... It's a little embarassing, but I don't think I'll get back to any of this stuff until my kids are older (and possibly able to do it themselves!).

only if the jack is rated for say....about 10 tons.

the only redeeming thing about the snow blower is it can rip fingers off under the right circumstances. if have actually snapped a room handle in half clearing the chute.

the tig welder would definitely fit on my list of cool toys.
