From: was in Boston; now in LA
As some of you may know, I am moving to LA in the middle of December. I will have my S shipped, as driving it through the country in the winter on S02s will be a pain in the S
Do you guys have any advice/suggestions/warnings?
Open carrier or enlosed? What is a good price for the haul? Any CARB warnings? All of your input is greatly appreciated; please chime in

Sorry to see you go. Good luck buddy!
You will love LA. I have been there, it is great. If I were you, I would drive the S to the beach area every day and enjoy all those beautiful scenery.
I am talking about the natural beauty of the sea coast...

Sorry to hear you're leaving us Dima!
Ok... my two cents about shipping a car...
It's going to be pricy... I shipped my sister's car to LA a few years ago... prices ranged from around $700 to $1200. The more you pay... the better "service" you get.
What does that mean? Enclosed trailer will cost you more... making sure your car is on TOP of the trailer not on the bottom where you can get oil from the car above you dripping down will cost additional, how quick you get it out there is a price factor... and... there are more... but that's all I can remember now.
Who is highly recommended... I think the name is Interstate Auto Shippers... then again... I did a google search on that... and came up with nothing... I'll remember it soon.
If I remembered who I did ship my sister's car to LA with... I wouldn't recommend them... When she picked up her car... the car had problems... took it to a dealer... they found a huge rat in her radiator fan. That was an additional cost that she didn't expect.
I'll get more info for you... let me do a little research.
Oh... don't worry too much about CARB. If you bought your car in MA... you should be all set.
If your driving a different car out to LA with all your stuff in a trailer truck or something tow your own car on a Uhaul car hauler (the entire car version not the 2 wheel version). Go buy 2 good size heavy duty tarps($40) lay one on the car carrier and drive the car onto it, strap the car down good and tight. Then wrap the car in a Honda car cover($50-100) Then wrap the other tarp over the top of the car and strap all the tarps down the trail with a bunch of bungie cords.($20)
If need be rent a trunk and tow a trailer with it.
I wouldn't let someone else tow my car unless that company is used to hauling cars that require "special' care. You don't want some guy taking your car for a rip in the middle of no where. If your not going to tow it yourself, I'd call the local Ferrari dealer in Newton and ask them who they use. They use an enclosed truck with a lift unit built into the trucks... pricey but worth it. If you hire some crap company you may never see your car again
Cost benefit...
My .02

Safe travels, Dima.
I drove a Prelude x-country to live a summer in the LA area back in '90. That was cool. I lived in the Bay Area for 3 years ('92 - '95), and loved it up there.
Great places to have a convertible. Best of luck.
