I am on the fence about buying the new one right out of the chute. I will wait a few days until they jailbreak the new OS and use that for a while. the current iphone is good enough and will be better with the new OS.
I am disappointed that ATT reportedly will not offer tethering and MMS until later this year.
Apple's service has been great so far though. I cracked my screen a feww weeks ago and they gave me a new one right there on the spot, no questions.
Junior, if you jailbreak, you can do ringtones without paying up the arse through itunes. You can also tether and do video already. I love the video feature on mine. got some good shots!

Blackberry Curve FTL.
It's fine for e-mail but has nowhere near the amount of cool apps and the web surfing experience is terrible using Opera mobile, even more terrible using the built in browser as it fails to render a lot of pages correction.

On a side note, I was talking to a few guys at work this morning and everyone is up in arms about this whole thing. If you arent in the upgrade window, a new phone is going for $500-$600 and they are offering no buyback of the older phones like they have before. Couple that with ATT refusing to offer tethering (and no guarantee they ever will) and we are getting the shaft.
Granted, 3g S is not THAT much better than the older 3G, but the voice command and faster processor are appealing to me. I can't see coming out of pocket $500 just to get those few features though.
I think some people just love Apple so much that they feel they should get something for their loyalty...EDIT: I agree with you on the tethering. AT&T doesn't allow that on my BlackBerry, either, so it's not iPhone specific.
Now what really chaps my ass is charging for text messages... I'm amazed people actually pay for them.
