Default New shoes

Looking for input. Need a new set of tires for the s2000. Was going to bite the bullet and go for the RE-11s, but I see that Bridgestone has a new tire the S-04 available. They are about the same price, the big difference (for me) is that the treadware on the Re-11 is 140 while the S-04 is 280. The S2000 is no longer my daily driver (inherited the accord from my wife after I had to buy a minivan (she calls it an SUV - tis not!). I don't autocross, and honestly now that I have a 3mo old, is probably not going to happen.

I am also considering the Continental ExtremeContact somethings somethings (the non-snow ones). Anyone have any useful input? These looks like a pretty good deal but I have never used anything other than bridgestones on the s2k. The Continentals seem to get good reviews online, but i dunno...

Also up for other suggestions, thanks much!

Im gonna beat a dead horse and say Dunlop star specs as usual. Comprable tread rating, same or better traction than bridgestone, and cheaper as well.

Get the RE 11s. Now that the car is not a DD, tread wear is less of a factor. The tires might get old before they wear out.

I have to disagree with you . I have both the Starspecs and the Re11 Bridgestones and while the Starspecs are good the Re11s are MUCH better . They are virtually silent and can be driven in colder temps without sliding all over the place .

I guess im comparing apples to oranges here, I had those bridgestones on an STI i owned and I disliked them. Plus the price difference is a huge factor in my eyes

C'mon, Joe... if you're gonna say you got a minivan... you could have at least gotten a minivan... 4WD, 6-lug wheels, and a lack of sliding doors means it's not a minivan!

Also interested in people's recommendations, as I'm just about in the same exact situation. But with an AP1.

Like the price of the Dunlops! Going to add them to the list, although I will probably go for the RE-11

Mike, I will probably get them from Tirerack, my only hesitation is that I hate having to get the tires mounted from a place that I didn't buy the tires from, it's always such a hassle. Even if you go to an affiliated installer, I always sense the "FU - you didn't buy these here" vibe.

If I do buy from Tirerack I will give them a call and see if I can pick them up from Windsoe, if you want to coordinate, I will hitch the trailer to the "cross-over" and maybe we can pick them both up.
