I'll still think that the Yankees only robbed Peter to pay Paul. It is much easier to find a 3B to put up half-decent production number than a 2B to do the same...

Now, if Jeter or A-Rod plays second, or if the Yankees can trade Jeter for something valuable (unlikely given his 18M/yr contract), then that would be something.

Over the last 2 years, Soriano has about the same batting average as A-Rod; ~30 fewer HR's but 50 more SB's. So you gotta ask: (Soriano + avg. 3B + ~$14M) greater or less than (A-Rod + avg. 2B)

Bill, trust me, he is not a good second baseman. Even Texas is moving him to the outfield. Soriano made 19 errors in 2001, 23 in 2002 and 19 in 2003. Brett Boone during the same time made 10, 7 and 7.

These numbers also don't include the double plays that were not made.
