Default oil change question

I've had my 04 Silverstone for almost 3 months now and need my 1st oil change.
Just had a question - best place to get oil change in Manchester NH area?
I'm guessing that Autofair Honda in Manchester is probably the best place because they seem to sell the most s2ks inthe area - but not sure. I,ve read some of the horror stories about these dealerships. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

hmm.. how told you to change your oil in 3months? what's the mileage in your car? unless the manual has changed you should wait till 7.5k miles before an oil change

There are a lot of opinions here.
Some say the oil put in at manufacture is supposed to have additives
to protect the engine and should be left in until ~7000 miles.

Yeah I would try to leave it in there for at least 6-7k miles for the breakin oil to work its magic. Why not just change it yourself?

Anyway make sure you give the S a thorough inspection before leaving the dealership. Oh make sure they use the proper S oil filter!

How's it going . I live in Manchester and work at a speedshop in Hooksett .

I have done work for alot of the local S2K members , from changing tires to rebuilding heads and engines. I also do full blown custom audio .

Unfortunately we don't do oil changes at my shop . But I do have use of other facilitys or can show you how simple it is to do . I deal with dealers all the time and the stuff they over look amazes me.

My shop is in the same plaza a BULLRUN BEEF. I am the last unit in the back. The shop is called Installations Etc. if you want to stop by and meet me . Unfortunately I wont be able to chat to long unless it is business . But if you want to stop by and swap #'s thats fine . My name is Scott Beique (Bake) , you will have to ask for me buy full name. The owners name is Scott also. I work till 6pm M-F . I drive a Red 01 that is usually parked in the last parking spot. You wont see it there till the end of the month when I get my licence back. But I will be there even though you don't see it there.

The service manager at Autofair is great. His name is Scott and is a big 2ki enthusiast he also raced gokarts. Fun guy to talk to. I live in Portsmouth NH and drive 40 minutes for service there.

As far as the oil change goes, go to Wal-Mart and buy some plastic Rhino ramps, a plastic catch basin and do it yourself. It is very easy and will safe you lots of time. Just say away from the cheap Fram oil filters.

Yup, give it a try and change the oil yourself. You would think bringing your car to the dealers is the best way to go.

I went through that myself. Sometimes they don't give you enough oil and over- torqued the drain nut. And you paid top dollars for that

I am the last person on earth would do an oil change. Ben was kind enough to come over and show me how. Athough I made a little mess, but at the end of the day, I did my first oil change.

Everyone,

Thanks for all the replies and opinions - I appreciate it. I used to change my oil and got lazy but maybe this S will force me to do it myself again. I didn't realize that the oil that's put in at the factory is "special oil". Thanks again.

I wouldn't fret bringing your car to the dealer to get an oil service. There's no secrets when it comes to changing the oil on the S2000. I like the dealer for that incase they do screw it up, you're in a better position than if the local guy screws it up (it's very unlikely either would screw an oil change up). The only thing I'd be worried about it whether they get oil on the steering rack and anything else that is under the car. Herb Chambers did that to me one oil change and it took some degreaser and high pressure to wash it out, but they comp'd me a free oil change because of it.
