Passing on the right?
OK, put your .02 here. Hard to Top, may be the leading authority on this..
I'm stopped behind a vehicle, he's waiting to make a left turn...he's a wide A$$ vehicle, I can't see in front of him. So, he's stopped, I go around him.
A truck that is making a left hand turn cuts in front of me. Obviously, both these guys were making left hand turns, and the one in front of me maybe waved the other guy in. The guy who makes the left in front of me, points his finger at me (not the bad finger) and GLARES at me. I stopped and he proceeded with his turn. I did not see this guy coming, and could not see him in front of the wide A$$ guy in front of me. Someone making a left hand turn does NOT have the right of way, but my passing on the right may not have been, shall we say "proper" in this instance.
I hate it when someone allows me to make a turn and someone else cuts me off or is about to cut me off, BUT, it happens...Sometimes because we (collective we) aren't courteous, sometimes because you just didn't see the car coming.
So was my passing an "illegal passing on the right" and IF we crashed, who do you think the insurance company would have found at fault? Left hand turn guy, or passing on the right grandma? OR, could it be one of those 50/50 deals?

Nope, no shoulder, still on the road...I was right near that gas station, in the center of town. Plenty of room to go around the guy..
I think, one time, long, long ago, my sister got stopped for this kind of "passing on the right", but we all do it, don't we?

Ok so this info cost me a $100 bucks some years back...
It is legal to pass on the right when the vehicle is making a left turn.
I can't find the precise legal wording but it is structured when "safe to do so".
I think the other left turning vehicle would trump the "safe to do so" semantics.

Left hand turns come with a lot of responsibility.
I do this all the time assuming that the road is wide enough and that I'm not impeding the other traffic in the intersection and of course if you can see what the oncoming traffic is doing.... this is why big trucks and SUV's should be banned
You can't see through those things so yeah, not safe-to-do-so when you can't tell what's on the other side.

Yes. i got a ticket on the mass pike for passing on the right (as well as speeding) I looked up the law. it IS legal to pass on the right if it is a divided highway! BUT the mass pike has its own fricken laws (seriously wtf) and it is NOT legal on the mass pike to do so. Anyways I fought it in court. telling the judge how am i supposed to know different highways in the same state have different laws. It was a 100 ticket he took off 100% of the passing on the right part and took off another 80 for the speeding ticket
Fighting tickets FTW!

This wasn't even at an intersection, it was beyond the intersection/ stop sign where someone got stopped recently for not stopping..
Gas station on my right, bank on my left. Guy waiting to take left in front of me looking to get into bank...other guy looking to enter gas station is the one who cut me off, and gave me the non bad finger....
Right now, I still think he was more wrong than I was.
Maybe the finger guy thought I saw him coming and was trying to beat him to the punch, and make him wait...I don't do that.
However, if I give someone the "go ahead wave" to make a left in front of me, I get pi$$ed off if someone else also makes the turn on the "coat tails" of the guy I waved through. That makes me
