Plan on drivin this winter?
thinkin about drivin this winter????...well I am, I think I might just drive the S2000 to work...b/c I don't really live too far about 1 1/2 miles from work. I need some advice on if I should do it?? And if I should...should I put on my OEM rims and put winter tires or just leave my aftermarket rims and put some winter tires on them. Im looking for 245/45/R16 studded winter tires for the OEM rims but I don't think they make them that big. Do any of you know what size tires fit the rear rims on the S2000
225/55/16 is the stock tire size...I would put stock wheels on it and some snow tires, but wouldn't want to drive the s in the snow...Im getting a truck before the winter myself so I don't have to drive the s again, save the car from paint chips and what not...I had to get the fron bumper painted from last winter...
I dont' have a choice....Im pretty broke so I can't really afford another car. I was thinkin of just gettin some used studded winter tires and jus put two in the rear and leave my regular tires up in front...or should I buy studded tires for all four ?? I drove my s2000 in the end of maine's winter....it wasn't to bad b/c I only leave about 1 1/2 mile from work and I use my g/f's car to drive to like the mall n junk.

I got a set of rashed pre-04 OEM rims with almost new Blizzak WS-50s on them for a bit under $400. I made it through one of the worst winters on record last season without a hitch. I even "plowed" some side streets here in Newport with my factory lip. You don't need studded tires, and you don't need sand bags in the trunk. Just remember you're driving a well balanced rear wheel drive car. You'll be fine, especially on that short commute.
EDIT:
P.S. - It's JULY! I understand you probably want to start keeping an eye out for these things, but man! I don't want to think about SNOW!

I, too, drove throuogh last winter. I picked up a set of Bridgestone Blizzak LM 22's at Town Fair Tire. You'll need them all around, though. I tried to avoid going out in really bad weather and have enough accrued time to do this. I got caught in a really bad storm one day though. Started to rain, changed to ice then heavy snow. By the time I left work, there was snow covered ice all over unplpowed streets. I took it nice and easy, watched a front wheel drive and a truck fishtail in front of me. Got home no trouble, even climbing a moderately steep hill after a stop to make the turn. I did have a 70 pound bagof sand in the trunk, however, just for insurance.
