OK fellow fanatics, take out your handkerchiefs.

I was standing in traffic, talking with my passenger Tuesday 3/18 when, WHAM, I'm hit from behind by a 21 year old woman in an 88 Escort. I had the car checked out preliminarily and it looks like no structural damage but I need to replace the rear bumper. I was a bit upset since this is my baby and only has 6400 miles.

The good news is that a friend introduced me to a body shop owner friend of his that works on high end cars and said he'd fix it for me but I have to wait 3 weeks. His shop had some sweet Porsches, Mercedes, etc. in varying phases of completion and the first thing he said to me was that we needed to make sure the performance integrity wasn't damaged. This was great to hear because I was tired of explaining to other shops (and insurance company) that this is a performance vehicle. They just look at the exterior and tell me I need a new bumper. No sh**!

The Escort was torn up pretty good though, so we'll see how well the S2k holds up in this bumper test.

Join the club. I got rear-ended by an 84 year old man in a grand cherokee the first week I had my S2000. Had to replace the trunk and back bumper. And not a scratch to his car, and he only got a warning. Having my S2k in the shop for a week was hell, lol. When I got it back I was so happy

Sorry to hear about the car. I drive mine all winter with fear that the same will happen to me (knock on wood), it has not happened.

Atleast you have a good place to take the car and know it will be as good as new.

My car just got hit yesterday March 26th!!!! Some old bastard in a big ol' Caddy ran into the back of me at a stop light. No damage to his car and actually the S2k held up pretty good. Only a crease in the bumper. I say, "only" but I felt so sick and still do. This is my baby, 1 year old with 7000 miles and not one scratch, ding etc....until now. Anyway, I'm worried that a body shop (Honda dealer) is not going to do a good job. I'm worried that something else will go wrong in the process of replacing my bumper. Just out of curiousity, can anyone tell me how much it was to replace their bumper?? His insurance company is paying for it but I'm just curious. Also, any tips or pointers for me??? I'm so enraged this happened!!!! AHHHHHH!!! Thanks fellow brothers and sisters

Got the car back yesterday with the new bumper. I've known the owner for many years (not the prsche guy-had to wait too long for him) and he did a great job, but he sprayed it ALL silverstone, including the lower li[p that should be flat black. He said he'd change it for me, but I think I might keep it. It doesn't look all that bad.

The insurance company gave $489 for the bumper and labor and there was a supplemental charge for tensioners(?) underneath.

BTW, the young woman who hit me is disputing my claim, saying that there was no damaged caused. Talk about rubbing salt in the wound!

Glad you got the car back. Sorry to hear the woman is disputing the claim, but that should not be your problem. You insurance should handle it without a deductable since it was her fault.

It seems that psycho ben had to have his bumper painted and they did not paint the black on his either. I guess the repair shops do not pay that much attention to that.

Hope to see out and about soon.

I got rear-ended on March 25th! I stopped because the car in front of me stopped to do a delivery. About half a minute later, an '88 Dodge Colt slams into me. My rear bumper, probably some reinforcement parts, and my stock exhaust all has to be replaced.

If anyone is looking for a bodyshop, go to Invisible Touch in Brookline. That's where my car is now, and trust me they are the best bodyshop in the Boston area. Sucks that I'll be in a Dodge Stratus (rental) for about a month or so but then again, it gave me an excuse to put on a bodykit! Plus the Veilside Ti exhaust that I bought will probably be covered by the claim since I don't need to buy another stock exhaust! Let's just say, getting crashed helped start up my modding spree.
